When you’re planning your wedding, it’s nice to have options. You have your unique style and vision for your day, and you probably don’t want to settle for a venue that doesn’t match. While there is a lot to love about Brittland Estates, one of the most appealing factors is how much they let you customize your wedding day. As a Baltimore wedding photographer, I have gotten the chance to tour this series of venues and find out all about how they go above and beyond for their couples. If you have considered this option for your celebration, I would love to tell you what you can expect from your Brittland Estates wedding.
Office address: 205 Cannon Street, Suite 1, Chestertown, Maryland 21620
Brittland Estates offers several gorgeous manors where you can host your wedding. These heritage estates have everything you could possibly need. The venue company started out in 1985 when it purchased the 17th-century Stepne Manor. The center quickly realized what it took to throw an unforgettable event, and it went to work adding more heritage houses for couples to choose from. Even when there’s no wedding, the center shows off its hospitality skills by letting people book their historic manors for a stay.
For outdoor Brittland Estates weddings, you will be able to choose from several lawns and gardens. Couples who want a waterfront wedding will find it in Brittland Manor and its accompanying River Lounge. These sites overlook the Chester River and give you a flat, open space where you can exchange your vows. Brittland Manor also contains an outdoor pool and gardens, both of which can be used for your ceremony. The historic Stepne Manor offers outdoor spaces with rustic barns serving as the backdrop for your ceremony. They also regularly perform weddings here on the front porch with guests seated on the lawn. If you prefer to have your ceremony in an open field, let the venue know, and they’ll find the perfect option.
For indoor weddings, the Bank is your best option. This positively stunning space is located in the lobby of the original Chestertown Bank, which first opened its doors in 1849. This one-of-a-kind venue has tall ceilings, an octagonal skylight, and a chandelier. The walls are a neutral white shade, and the bank offers rich wooden details.
The venue offers event tents, where you can have a designated space for an outdoor reception. You will be able to dine on the lawns, with manors nearby to provide all the necessary amenities, such as kitchens and bathrooms. If you would prefer a paved space, you can choose from one of several patios. From sunset farm dinners to garden hors d’oeuvres, the venue is going to have a truly spectacular space for you.
For an indoor reception, the Bank remains your best choice. The space is ideal for more intimate weddings and will still give your guests plenty of space to raise a glass before dancing the night away.
The Brittland Estates wedding venue also offers side yards that are perfect for your cocktail hour. The terrace of Brittland Manor gives your guests pool-side views, while the gardens will give you a quiet and secluded space. For guests getting married at The Bank, you are able to use the former vaults as one of the most interesting spots ever for a bar or a cake table.
Because both Brittland Manor and Stepne Manor operate as bed and breakfasts, they offer spare rooms for getting ready. These rooms have large beds and furniture where your bridal party can spread out, sip champagne, and get ready for the rest of the day.
No matter the size of your wedding, the venue has the perfect space for you. Brittland Manor can host up to 300 guests, Stepne Manor can host up to 275, and The Bank will host up to 80 people.
The venues offer details that will truly make your wedding stand out from the rest. The Bank is as gorgeous as it is fascinating, providing you with patterned tiled floors, wainscotting, and high ceilings. A door opens to the former bank vaults, and many couples choose to leave this open. The exterior offers limestone in the Federal style with large archways and columns. The manors themselves are brick with columns, front porches, and lush wildlife.
The fields surrounding Brittland Estates offer the ideal spot for both individual and couple wedding portraits. Brittland Manor rests on over 500 acres and provides plenty of secluded spots for these pictures. It also has a pier stretching out over the Chester River. There are also large staircases and private, sunlit rooms for interior portraits. Stepne Manor offers rustic barns and cornfields that will serve as a rich backdrop. Finally, the front porch of The Bank gives you a pretty iconic space to sneak a kiss.
The Brittland Estates wedding venue prides itself on its hospitality, and you will quickly understand why when you start working with it! They give you your choice from a list of preferred vendors for food. You will be able to work with an expert team to create your dream meal. They also let you choose your bartender. The venue can accommodate your rehearsal dinner and ensure you are prepared for your perfect day. The properties are wheelchair accessible. Lastly, the inn provides you with accommodations for after your wedding ceremony. Stay with your guests as long as you want before you head up and crash into the spacious, beautiful historic rooms.
