Overhills Mansion is a storied estate that is dedicated to creating a one-of-a-kind wedding. The property was originally owned by a lumber tycoon named Henry James. When Henry’s son, Norman, was preparing to get married, Henry had the mansion commissioned as a wedding gift. The house was finished in 1897 and saw many happy years until it was purchased in 1987. The house was then bought by its current owners alongside Whitehouse Caterers. Today, the center specializes in throwing parties that are truly unforgettable. Their expansive events team, alongside their chefs, will give you everything you need for your perfect day.
Details of the Grounds
Whether you want an indoor or an outdoor wedding ceremony, Overhills Mansion has the ideal spot for you! For those who would prefer the climate control of the indoors, you will positively love the Ballroom. This area is the perfect combination of elegant and moody. The walls are decorated in a rich wood with a white fireplace standing in sharp contrast. There are elegant crystal chandeliers that light up the room.
For those looking for an outdoor space, check out The Meditation Gardens. This area is just as peaceful as it sounds. The grounds have been thoughtfully landscaped to add natural vibrancy to your event. You can set up your arbor or archway beneath the towering trees.
If you need a compromise, try The Tent. The event tent is located just outside of the Meditation Gardens and features sides that can be opened or closed throughout your ceremony.
For a larger indoor reception, the Ballroom is the best spot. I cannot stress how positively romantic this space looks when lit up by candles. You’ll have a divine space to dance and toast to the future. For smaller indoor receptions, you can use the Grand Room. This sunny space has white walls and large windows that let the light stream in.
For an outdoor reception, The Tent is the place for you. Your guests will have an elegant place to enjoy fantastic food as they celebrate.
Additional Special Spaces
For an indoor wedding cocktail hour, you can use Overhills Mansion The Grand Room. The space has an authentic vintage bar where your guests can sip on cocktails following your wedding. For an outdoor cocktail hour, you can set up a space in The Meditation Gardens or use the covered front porch.
The Overhills Mansion also gives you several great options for getting ready rooms. The Monroe Room was created to give you a relaxing space to put on the finishing touches with your party. The room has exceptional lighting, and you’ll have plenty of space to lounge and sip champagne before it’s time to put on your gown. There is also a game room that tends to be a hit with grooms and groomsmen before the ceremony.
The exterior tent can hold up to 180 guests. The Ballroom will be able to accommodate up to 240 guests. The Grand Room is perfect for intimate parties with room for up to 40 guests.
Inside and out, Overhills Mansion is positively grand. The rooms of the interior feature high ceilings, wooden floors, and large windows with curtains you can open or close as needed. The Tent features a draped ceiling that comes to a peak beneath elegant chandeliers. The removable sides feature faux-arched windows. The exterior of the mansion is white and features a covered front porch and stately columns.
Photography Opportunities
The lighting in the Overhills Mansion getting-ready rooms will ensure your individual wedding portraits are sun-soaked and gorgeous. You will be able to use the front porch and the exterior gardens for individual portraits as well as couple portraits. The front of the house gives you a positively iconic backdrop for couple and group portraits. The Meditation Gardens are accessible, making it the perfect choice for family pictures.
Wedding Details
The Whitehouse Caterers started so they could create positively delicious food for special events. You will be able to sit down and work with their team to create the menu that feels just right for your day. They use farm fresh ingredients and can create all-inclusive packages so you have all you need. Their exceptional tastes extend to their drinks and their desserts. They even let you have one-of-a-kind options including a smores bar!
When you book with the venue, you instantly pair with their event planning team. They will help you iron out all the details and connect you with their day-of coordinator, who will make sure your wedding is positively seamless. They will take care of set-up and clean-up. You will be able to use tables and chairs throughout the venue. During the week of your wedding, you will get to perform a walk-through. All rentals include 5 hours of event time. They will stock your dressing rooms with light refreshments you can enjoy as you get ready. There is parking available on-site.
