When you’re planning a wedding, you probably have a lot on your mind. Of course, you want to nail down your dream aesthetic, but you also want to be sure you have all the accommodations you need for a flawless day without all the stress. The right venue is going to go a long way to solving both concerns. As a Maryland wedding photographer, I get the chance to check out pretty stunning venues across the state, and I’m here to tell you about some of my absolute favorites! If you’re looking for a beautifully rustic wedding venue with high-class accommodations, I would love to tell you all about what you can expect from a Walkers Overlook Wedding.
8939 Woodsboro Pike, Walkersville, Maryland 21793
The Overlooks are sister wedding venues owned by a company dedicated to throwing some unforgettable events! The center owns Walker’s Overlook in Walkersville as well as Dulaney’s Overlook in Frederick. They also have a destination location in St. Thomas called Serenity Outlook. The owner, Mark Lynch, has over 40 years of experience in the wedding industry. He knows how to take a simple event and turn it into an extravaganza! While Dulaney Overlook gives you a breathtaking barn wedding, Walker’s Overlook features a historic manor built in 1757. The stately house proudly overlooks the surrounding area, effortlessly combining its rich legacy with breathtaking views. From ever-blooming flowers to tranquil gardens, this venue has the perfect spot for each part of your day. It’s absolutely no wonder why the venue has won awards year after year. This idyllic property will ensure you have the day you’ve always dreamt about.
Walker’s Overlook is your ideal place for an outdoor wedding. The property features expansive fields and secluded gardens that will elevate the atmosphere with little necessary work. The land contains a towering walnut tree that most couples choose to use as a backdrop as they exchange vows. The tree can be decorated with drapery if you’d like, or you can dress it up with flowers. If this spot simply doesn’t sing to you, chat with the venue, and they will help you find the right spot for this portion of your day.
The venue provides you with an event tent where you can host your reception. You can bring in nature as much (or as little) as you’d like. The tents have removable siding so you can transform them into an open-air, outdoor venue or leave them closed so you can have a climate-controlled, bug-free space. The tent features wooden flooring where your guests can dance for hours on end. There’s also bistro lighting that will illuminate your space all through the night.
The stone house has several spaces inside where you can have a cocktail hour. There is a game room where your guests can play foosball and enjoy some brews. For an outdoor reception hour, you can use the patio, where your guests can drink signature cocktails while wandering through the meticulously kept gardens.
Walker’s Overlook provides you with two spaces where you can get ready before the wedding. You’ll be able to unwind while drinking some bubbly with your best friends. Many grooms choose to use the game room once they’re ready to spread out and relax.
When you use the event tent, you will be able to accommodate up to 275 guests.
The exterior of Walker’s Overlook is positively dreamy. The age-worn bricks and the black shutters stand as a historic landmark in the midst of a storied venue. There is a wrap-around porch, thoughtfully planted perennials, and towering trees. The area is contained by a wooden fence, and pathways lead you across the property. The estate is perched on a rolling hill, giving you endless views of the surrounding towns. There is a vintage wooden car parked on the property that you can incorporate into your decorations. The patio is paved with stone and features stairs that lead down to the reception tent.
During your individual wedding portraits, you will be able to use the interior of the Walkers Overlook house. Both the dressing room and the game room are perfect for those action shots that document the mood of the day. Once it’s time for your couple portraits, you can move outside. The venue has several key spots, including the garden paths and the front of the manor. There is also a large gazebo as well as a swing on a tree you can incorporate into your shoot. The land is flat and accessible with various pathways, so you can get group shots with everybody in your family.
The Walkers Overlook wedding venue has all the accommodations you need for an effortlessly perfect day. You will get to use the venue for 12 hours, giving you the chance to host every part of your day on the property. You will have a wedding coordinator who will help you iron out every last detail of your wedding for your perfect day. They will provide all the tables and chairs. Plus, they will handle set-up and clean-up so you can get through your day without having to stress about those little details. They can provide you with lighting and sound equipment.
The venue has spent years curating a list of the best vendors around. You will have access to all the professionals you need, whether you are looking for flowers or for the ideal meal for your party. They have barware onsite, but you will have to work with your caterer to figure out dinnerware. There is parking onsite, and the property is wheelchair-accessible.
